Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Takes On Singer Olly Murs in Premier League Forecasts
Arsenal's ten-match winning streak came to an end by Sunderland prior to the global break, but can the English top division frontrunners bounce back against local foes Tottenham this weekend?
"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," stated football expert Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."
The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, versus AI, fans and a variety of special visitors.
For week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.
The singer's latest record, the new release, is available on Friday.
Football and Parenting Life
Olly is a talented footballer as well as a accomplished singer and has been a star of several charity football matches down the years - but he is not planning a professional comeback as a player.
"{I recently played in a benefit match the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "The side was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!
"I continue to love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it seriously again.
"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my daughter or son chooses to play instead."
The singer and his wife his partner have a young family, their daughter and their son, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their coach.
"I won't push football on our kids but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be managing their Saturday soccer side," he added.
"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly was involved with a football club for a while too.
"My father coached with us when I was a child, which is probably where I get it from. He managed our team for two or three years and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Top Division Forecasts
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea may have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's comeback from fitness issues but their attack is now stronger with Joao Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.
In my opinion this game will be quite tight, however. Burnley are well organised and their only at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.
It suggests a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to go with Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.
Sutton's prediction: 1-2
The singer's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3
AI's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have lost their previous couple games - albeit both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.
On the other hand, West Ham secured two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they do look strong again.
West Ham's only on the road victory this season came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham boss Nuno was still Forest coach.
So, what on earth do I go with here - will it be the Hammers continuing their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?
I will choose Bournemouth, because I believe what occurred against Villa was a blip.
Sutton's prediction: 2-0
Olly's outlook: The home team are doing well but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2
AI's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were considered one of the frontrunners for relegation before the campaign began, but they have impressed a several observers under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three in their last four games.
A family member advised me to select Brentford striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.
The forward will probably find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or support Brentford at Brighton's ground.
The Bees have not had much fortune on the travel this season, and the Seagulls are consistently strong at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to hit them on the counter-attack but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's side carry much more of a danger.
Sutton's prediction: 2-1
Olly's prediction: It could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a many goals but it in reality turns out to be rather close. 1-1
AI's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a massive game for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six games.
They have got lots of talent in their team but it nonetheless seems like they could be sucked into a relegation fight.
Regarding Sunderland, indeed they are the unexpected success of the top flight season so far.
The away side's display in the 2-2 draw with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We've not witnessed anyone else disrupt the Gunners like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.
The sensible thing would be to support the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they defeated Chelsea at the close of last month.
However I am not choose that. Instead, I truly need to carry on going against the away team with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their positive results because they clearly love to defy my predictions.
Considering the home side's home form, the only team they have lost to is Arsenal. Marco Silva's side will be extremely desperate for a good result, so I am going to predict they will secure three much-needed points.
The expert's forecast: 1-0
Olly's prediction: I'm aware the visitors are performing strongly and also that Fulham are on a bad streak... but Fulham have still been decent at home this season. 2-0
The algorithm's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a hard one to predict. Liverpool have lost seven of their past 10 matches in all competitions, but could they be one of the sides who profit from the {international break|
